Garza was born on November 14, 1943, to the late Catarino Garza and Maria DeLira in Sinton, TX. Jesus DeLira Garza had many proud moments and accomplishments. The first and most important things in his life were God, his family, his wife, and his son. His passion was being a minister for 20+ years. He was beloved by his congregation and admired for his wisdom. He was a great man of God and praised him with all of his heart. He loved singing gospels, his favorite being “Leaving on my mind” by Jimmy Swaggart. You could catch him on Sunday in his freshly cleaned truck, nicest suit, and flashiest watch. One of his many accomplishments was being awarded an Associates degree from South Plains College, all while only having a 6th grade education. He owned and operated Garza’s Barbershop for 30+ years. And while being a barber, he enjoyed being able to share the gospel with his clients. He was a pioneer in his craft and paved the way for those who came after him. He could make anyone laugh with his one-liners and stories. If you were fortunate enough to have met him, he would have left a lasting impression on you. Everything he did, he did to the fullest and with a loving heart. He was an influential man in many people’s lives. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Virginia Garza; son, Jesse Garza of Panama City Beach, FL; daughters, Jennifer Ramos and husband Jesse of Lubbock, and Donna Garza of San Antonio; three grandchildren; brothers, Julian Sanchez, and Eddie Ruedo; and sisters, Ida DeLira, Norma Ruedo.
