Jerry Alice was born on July 8, 1930, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to Clairisse Soulie’. Jerry grew up with two brothers, Pat, her twin Jean, and a sister Babe. She graduated from Ft. Smith High School in 1949 and went to work for F.W. Woolworth Company in Ft. Smith. It was there that she met her one and only George William Deahl, Sr. Jerry and George married on June 4, 1950, at the First Baptist Church in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. The young couple was only married eight days when George was transferred to a different Woolworth. This began their life of transfers and moves for the next 28 years. They settled in Lubbock in June of 1968 with their three children and found “home.” Jerry worked at Hemphill Wells for many years and later for Family Photo. After retirement, Jerry and George enjoyed their life together, traveling, becoming grandparents, and enjoying each other’s company. They loved each other dearly. Jerry was George’s support for almost 50 years before his death, October 8, 1999.She was active in Trinity Church of Lubbock, where she and George attended, volunteering at the Wearhouse, Sunshine Girls, and visiting The Primetimers Sunday School class. Many friends were made, and it truly enriched her life. Jerry was a great Christian woman. Her greatest strength came from her Bible.
