Jay Wesley Strawn, age 68, passed away peacefully March 31st, 2025, surrounded by family and friends that deeply loved him. He was born October 11th, 1957, in Abilene, Texas, to Jim and Bessie Strawn, who preceded him in death. Jay moved to Post, Texas, in 1968, where he met his Jr. High sweetheart, Susan Jackson. They married on August 5, 1977, with Susan’s parents, Bo and Marita Jackson, giving strict instructions “this isn’t a Sears and Roebuck. There are no returns!” They were married for 48 years. They have 3 children: Jennifer Strawn, Waylon Strawn and MJ Phillips, and Lyndee Ayala and husband Ben Ayala. They are very proud of their 5 grandchildren: Jared Strawn, Addison and Benjamin Ayala, and Oakley and Phoenix Strawn-Cash.
Jay was a loving, dedicated, and hardworking individual who always put the needs of others ahead of his own. In Acts 20:35 Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Jay truly knew that and lived by it. His generosity knew no bounds, and he would give the shirt off his back wanting nothing in return. He was a devoted, dependable father who took pride in loving and providing more than enough for his children.
Jay was well known for his trucking business, Strawn Transport and Acid Company. He started working for his dad, Jim Strawn, in his early teens. Eventually, he bought Strawn Transport from his dad and continued growing a successful business. As much as he loved Strawn Transport, his true love was serving his employees and customers.
Jay was a supporter of the Post Animal Shelter, Trooper Jonathan McDonald Memorial, and all of the grandkid’s fundraisers.
Jay is survived by his sisters: MaryAnn Gordon and Jackie, Nancy Hoffman and Rick, and Carolyn Hair and Donnie. He is a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews.
