Surrounded by her loving family, Janis Hubble Vanderpool, 75, went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on January 12, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 11, 1946, to the late Enoch Holland Edwards and Dorothy Ohair Edwards. She was proceeded in death by her brother, Don Keith Edwards.A lifelong Lubbock resident, Janis had several successful small businesses with her brother, Tim, and worked tirelessly for the betterment of the community through her involvement with several art-related charities.She was a longtime Board Member of the Lubbock Arts Alliance, previous chairperson of the Lubbock Arts Festival, and most recently recognized as “2021 Volunteer of the Year” by the Texas Festivals and Events Association for her work with the organization. Janis was an excellent artist in the medium of pottery and was instrumental in establishing the Clay Studio at LHUCA. She founded the Llano Estacado Clay Guild and its marquee event the “Wine & Clay Festival” which will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Janis was a Master Gardener and an active member of the Lubbock Master Gardener Association.She is survived by her devoted husband, Richard “Rick” D. Vanderpool; her beloved son, Clayton Hubble, and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Stephanie Tubbs Mancias, Brantlee Sells, and wife, Alissa; great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Alyssa, Rilee(Bug), Grayson; her best friend and brother, Tim Edwards and his wife, Shannon; niece, Lacy Jo Lusk, and husband, Jay; nephew, Zachary Edwards and his wife, Paige; great-nieces, Emarie, Preslee, and Razee; great-nephew, Cooper.Visitation will be Wednesday, January 19, 2022, 6 pm-8 pm, at Lake Ridge Chapel and funeral services will be Thursday, January 20, 2022, 2 pm, Worship Center – West Campus. Interment will be Lubbock Cemetery alongside her father, mother, and brother.
