Janie Irene Reeves

The family of Janie Reeves will celebrate her life of 75 years at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. On May 16, 1947, Janie Irene was born to the late Joe Elbert and Doris Nell (Cox) Seale in Lubbock, TX. She married Charlie Reeves on June 4, 1965, in Lubbock. They enjoyed 57 years of happy marriage, and she took great pride in sharing that they never had an argument or even raised their voices to each other.  They started their family, welcoming sons Greg in 1967 and Michael in 1969, and daughter Melissa in 1976.  She was a devoted mother, frequently serving as a room mother for her children’s classes at school and in the PTA.   Janie was thrilled to take on the role of Grandma with the arrival of her first granddaughter Kennedy in 1997, followed by three more granddaughters, Cassidy in 2000, Payton in 2001, and Sydney in 2004.  The granddaughters loved to spend time with Grandma because she had great toys, was a fantastic cook, and loved to spoil them. She was a model homemaker who truly loved keeping her house spotless and would never dream of starting the day without making her bed.  She enjoyed decorating for holidays, and also promptly taking down the decorations as soon as the holiday was over.  She was also a tremendous animal lover who doted on the many dogs and cats she adopted throughout her life.  She even bottle-fed two litters of stray kittens when the mother cats were unable to.  She loved to show her appreciation for friends and family members by making “gratitude baskets” that contained carefully selected personal gifts.  Janie stayed very informed on current events and had a voracious appetite for news be it on television, in books, or online.

She is survived by her husband Charlie Reeves, son Greg Reeves and his wife Mande, son Michael Reeves and his wife Christy, daughter Melissa Wells and her husband Brian, granddaughters Kennedy Reeves, Cassidy Reeves, Payton Reeves, and Sydney Reeves, and brothers Don Seale and his wife Tonya, and Dan Seale and his wife Dorothy.

The family of Janie Reeves has designated the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at michaeljfox.org, Lubbock Meals on Wheels at lubbockmealsonwheels.org, or a charity of your choice for memorial contributions donated in her memory.
