Janice was born on March 10, 1934 to Weldon and Gladys Snodgrass in Lubbock, Texas. She was blessed with a gift of music. At the age of 6, Janice played accordion with the Drug Store Cowboys at Hop Halsey Drugstore. During WWII she played for the soldiers at the USO. While at Lubbock High School, she played flute in the LSO. Janice earned her BS and MEd at Texas Tech where she played flute in the marching band. In 1963 Janice married Sam Crockett in Lubbock at First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Hi Robinson Sunday School class. After teaching elementary school for 34 years with LISD, Janice enjoyed singing with the Chancel Choir, playing piano and organ, and traveling with Sam.Survivors include her husband, Sam Crockett; daughter, Tami Owen Bopp and husband, Bill; daughter, Careyn Henslee; grandchildren, Ryan Owen (Emily); Regan Owen (Hillary); Lauren Ashley Owen, Jenifer Peck (Steven); Amanda Henslee; great-granddaughter, Maudie Owen; She was also survived by brother, Jerrell Snodgrass and wife, Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Francis Snodgrass.Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Department at First United Methodist Church.
