James Lewis Means Jr. was born on March 21, 1929. He was born in Tahoka to James and Cora Means the same year that marked the end of what was the roaring 20’s, the stock market crash of ’29, the onset of the great depression, and for those before us in Texas, the dust bowl years. His family had little to their name as they moved to Ropesville when he was just a boy. He had expressed this is why he had a hard time parting with money and was always looking for a deal. You can look all around his property and find those things he picked up along his journey.
