James Perkins passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 surrounded by his family. There will be fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 pm today, May 24, 2017 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 81 years on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at 1 p.m. also at Lake Ridge Chapel. He graduated from New Deal High School in 1955. Where he was involved in sports. James married Peggy Benson in 1956 and they moved to Lubbock, where they started their family. James retired from Cement Supply after 35 years of devoted service. He then went on to run his own businesses for 20 years. He was always a loving Father, grandfather (Papa) and brother. He enjoyed having the family gather at his home in Shallowater. He took special care in helping his grandchildren with many things and keeping their cars in running order was a top priority. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking and restoring antique cars.He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rea Niece White, an infant daughter, Dana Perkins, a sister, Thelma Sneed, and special friend and companion of thirty years, Maxine Wilson.James is survived by his daughter, Claudia York; four granddaughters, Camy York, Shea White, Breeann Rios, and Tiffany White; five great-grandchildren all of Lubbock; a sister, Shirley Ainsworth and her husband Joe of Keller; and a brother, Johnny Perkins and wife Mickey of Colleyville.
