Jim was born to James Carroll Pearson Sr. and Edna Estline Pearson on July 1, 1934, in Pettit, Texas. He graduated from Pettit High School. Jim married Maurine Coke on January 13, 2000. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was self-employed and worked as a horse trainer, farmer, rancher, and many other skills needed to accomplish daily life like carpentry, plumbing, etc., James lived his entire life basically as an overall cowboy. He worked with young people who were interested in show and performance horses by conducting weekend clinics and judging youth horse shows throughout Texas. Jim was inducted into the Pinto Horse Hall of Fame in 2014. In the 1980’s he entered a cowboy ministry in Muleshoe, where he preached and did the Lord’s work, sharing the Good News, and continued to do so even until the day he went to be with Jesus. There was not a challenge too big in life that Jim would not take on, and he would stop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need.

Pearson and Lee Pearson; three sisters, Ruby Henderson, Nita Hall, and Linda Nowell; his children, Billy Pearson, Tom Pearson, Tamra Marshall, Jay Pearson, Joe Snow, Vanessa Lucas, and Mack Word.
