Jim was born on January 2, 1934, son of the late Margaret Whatley Darr and Gale Adams. He married the love of his life Arla Jean Adams on February 14, 1958, in Lubbock, TX. They had one son, James A. Adams, who was the light of his life.

Jim graduated from Lubbock High School in 1952 and attended Texas Tech College. He served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves.

He loved music and was a talented country pedal steel guitar player. Jim toured and played with numerous local bands. He spent many years entertaining throughout the country with major Nashville country stars and participated in a USO Naval Tour to Puerto Rico.

Jim loved his son dearly and was active as a leader for the Boy Scouts and 4-H Club.

He was an avid reader and was extremely knowledgeable in many fields. He was a talented mechanic and a motorcycle enthusiast. Jim also loved airplanes and was a licensed pilot.

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arla Jean Adams. He loved animals especially his dog, Kandi and his son’s horse, Crackerjack. Jim is also survived by loving family members, sister-in-law, Carol Knott (Jerry), sister-in-law, Fleda Key (Tommy), brother-in-law, George Izzard (Floretta); nieces and nephews, Paul Hinman, Jr., Stephen Hinman, Debbie Bamburg, Colleen Woodcock, Robert L. (Bobby) Knott, Melissa Beago, Michelle Key, Daniel Izzard and Whitney Glenn. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolores Keith, and son, James A. Adams.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to friends Tracie and Randy Ethridge, Kayla Klemmer, and numerous friends for their loving care along with all the members of Accolade Home Care and Accolade Hospice. You offered such tender care for our beloved family member.
