Jacquetta Jane Perry, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, with her children by her side. Born on November 11, 1949, in Paris, Texas, Jacquetta was raised in Lubbock, the place she would call home for the rest of her life. Friends knew her as “Jacque,” while her family affectionately called her “Quetta” or “KeKe.” She had a gentle way of being present—offering comfort, encouragement, and steady support.
Jacquetta graduated from Lubbock High School in 1969 and remained connected with her classmates through the LHS Reunion Committee. She was the first in her family to graduate high school and took great pride in being a Lubbock High Westerner. She met the love of her life, Michael Lee Perry, in 1976, and together they built a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for one another. They married on December 16th of that year and spent 48 wonderful years together, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and togetherness.
Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, cherishing every moment together. Whether attending family get-togethers, sharing time with her grandchildren, or simply enjoying good company, she made every gathering feel special with her warmth, affection, and laughter.
Jacquetta also dedicated much of her time to working with children. She was a library aide at Honey Elementary and a special education aide at Maedgen Elementary. She formed lasting friendships at both schools. In addition to her work with children, she also brought her warmth and friendliness to the Lubbock County Clerk’s Office, leaving a memorable mark there as well.
In addition to her love for family, Jacquetta enjoyed crocheting beautiful afghans, a craft that brought her joy and allowed her to create heartfelt gifts for those she loved. She had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society, where she shared friendship and laughter with a wonderful group of women.
She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Michael Perry; her parents, William and Beatrice Benson Long; five sisters, Wytoka Casey, Wanda Jones, Billie Jones, Patsy Montgomery, and Sandra Patterson; and three brothers, Norval Long, Glenn Long, and Richard Long.
Jacquetta is survived by her children, Robin Perry Acker (Thomas) and Zane Perry (Erica); her five beloved grandchildren, Presley, Perry Grace, Evie, Finlay, and Walker; and her sister, Alice Ammons.
Jacquetta’s love, support, and unwavering dedication to those she cared for will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
