Jackie M. Corbin, 85, beloved mother, wife and daughter passed away with her family at her side on December 17, 2024, after a brief illness.
Jackie was born in Amarillo on April 22, 1939, to Jack and Maxine Roberts. Jackie graduated from Amarillo High and attended West Texas State where she met and married the love of her life, Larry Corbin. Jackie and Larry were married on August 17, 1958. They were married for over 59 years.
Jackie was a devoted & involved mother to sons Ken (Donna) & Kirk (Rinda) and her daughter Kay. She was a den mother and a home room mom for all her children during their school years. Jackie and Larry provided a loving, warm & welcoming home not only to their children but to many of their children’s friends who they many times claimed as their own. Jackie was also a loving & caring Grandmother/Nana to Allen, Rebecca Fountain, Holt Stevens, Howard and Jack, Great Grandmother to Keller, Kamden and Noah. Her family was her pride and joy.
Jackie took great pleasure in gourmet cooking, interior design, sewing, making ceramics & pottery, oil painting, stained glass artistry and jewelry fabrication. Her talents knew no bounds. She fervently enjoyed reading and politics. Jackie and Larry loved to travel and had fond memories of their travels while visiting museums, art galleries and architecture all over the USA & overseas.
Larry & Jackie were a team together in all their endeavors, be it the owning of KLLL radio in Lubbock or in Larry’s financial advisory business in Ruidoso NM. Jackie & Larry’s annual Pachanga parties in Alto NM were talked about for years after they occurred. Their time spent in Alto was full of them making a difference, being it on the many boards at Alto Lakes Country Club, Jackie as a Founding Board Director of the Spencer Theater for the Performing Arts or simply as a trusted friend. They relished their years in the mountains. Jackie was confirmed in the Episcopal Church and attended Church of the Holy Mount in Ruidoso.
The family appreciates the staff at CPCS Personal Care & Hospice of Lubbock. They especially wish to thank Linda Petty for caring so gracefully for Jackie in her last few weeks.
Family and friends will never forget Jackie’s love, strength, sense of humor and sharp wit. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and husband Larry, and is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family will never forget the love, strength and devotion she brought to their lives.
The family is having a private ceremony.
