Surrounded by family, Jack Stanley Scarborough was received into Heaven on July 19, 2019 after a short, but courageous, battle with cancer. Visitation will be Monday, July 22nd from 6-8pm at Lake Ridge Chapel. His Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, July 23 at 11am at St. Luke’s UMC.

Born December 19, 1946 in Lubbock, Jack grew up in Petersburg, Texas where he was a star athlete. He graduated from Texas Tech University and married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Wilson, in 1968. For 41 years, he was an active member of St. Luke’s and the Crusaders Sunday School class. Jack was devoted to his work family at Scarborough Specialties, which he founded in 1992. He loved traveling, the mountains of Ruidoso, the game of golf, quail hunting, cooking out, the Red Raiders, and time with friends. More than anything, Jack treasured every moment with his wife Cindy, their kids, and eight grandchildren who call him Pap.

Jack is survived by Cindy, his wife of 51 years; daughter, Jill Jacobus of Lubbock, her husband Jay, and children Jake, Jud, and Justus; son, Stan Scarborough of Lubbock, his wife Amanda, and children Banner, Hope, and Lily: daughter, Lee Bryant of Midland, her husband Tory, and children Devyn and Zeke; brother, Jerry Scarborough (Janette) of Salem, Georgia; sister, Judy Sell (George) of Lubbock, Texas; sister-in-law, Cathy Wilson of Canyon, Texas.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents J.B. And Betty Scarborough of Petersburg, Texas.

  7. Well Jack I’m sure you enjoyed the service today it was a well deserved tribute of a life well lived and seeing old friends again. Speaking of friends I hope you see my old friend Gary Simmons whom you know, tell him I said Hey… We Played a lot of golf together and I’m sure by now he has the best course picked out so the two of you can get a game going.
Many people walk in and out of our lives while we are on this dusty ole earth and I am better for having known you. I was told once of a Cherokee saying that people they considered true and upstanding people. They called them very simply….

Jack has always been one of the “good guys” as long as I have known him … over 60 years. He will be missed by all that knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with Cindy, their kids and grand kids. Jack was taken from earth too soon, but was welcomed into Heaven.

  11. To Cindy and your loving family, I send my condolences to you all. From Facebook last month, I gathered all was not well with Jack last month, but I was not expecting to read of Jack’s passing when I went to wish you a happy birthday on Facebook tonight, Cindy. You two were quite the welcoming pair to Ron and me after we became your Alto neighbors in 2003. You were always upbeat and sweet, and for that I am grateful. I wonder if Ron was one of the welcoming committee to Jack on 7/19. May you feel God’s comforting arm around you all now and in the difficult days ahead. With love and hugs…
