J. W. Holt passed away suddenly on October 18, 2018. J. W. was born on October 11, 1942, to Jonnie and Walter Holt in Beaumont, Texas. He was a 1964 graduate of Texas Christian University where he was a proud member of the Horned Frog baseball team where he earned All-Southwest Conference honors at third baseman. On October 4, 1986, J.W married his wife of over 30 years, Carla Calvert, in Lubbock, Texas.
J.W was honored to be part of banking in West Texas for over 50 years. He enjoyed all aspects of the industry and mentored many young bankers. His quiet generosity was an asset to the Lubbock charitable community. Always an avid golfer, his weekends revolved around golf and sports, especially games of his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his, wife, Carla Calvert Holt of Lubbock, Texas; children, John Brent Holt of Los Angeles, California; Jeffrey Ryan Holt of Austin, Texas; Kristi Holt Moriarty and husband, David; grandchildren, Holt Michael, and Kathryn Frances Moriarty of Austin, Texas; and sister, Janice Scott of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonnie Maxine Holt and Walter Neal Holt; and his brother, Richard Holt.
