Helen Rae Zaenglein Miner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother joined her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ on March 24, 2025. Helen was born in Shreveport, LA on March 15, 1934 to Dorothy and Cletus Zaenglein. She grew up in Shreveport, graduating from Byrd High School and then Southern Methodist University. On January 29, 1957, Helen married James Sterling Miner, III and they began their life together in Texas and with Texaco.
Helen was busy supporting their two children, Deborah Rae and David Sterling during their school years and was active in the Junior League of Houston and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was also an active member of Chapelwood Methodist Church in Houston for over 30 years until a 2015 move to Lubbock, TX. While at Chapelwood, Helen served in the Kitchen Ministry, Communion Guild, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Wednesday Morning Ladies Bible Study, as a library volunteer, and as a lifetime member of the Board of Stewards of Chapelwood.
Helen loved entertaining family and friends in their home and her’s and Jim’s many trips in the United States and abroad.
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved Jim and her parents, Dorothy and Clete. Those remaining to celebrate her life are her daughter Debbie Allen and husband Larry of Lubbock and son, David Miner of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter Haleigh Allen Kern and husband Kraig of Lubbock and their children Greyson and Elliott; and grandson Landry Allen and wife Lauren of Lubbock and their children Harper and Jessica. Helen is also survived by her sister Joanne Zaenglein Mewbourne of Tyler, brother David Edwin Zaenglein, also of Tyler, and many nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children.
