It is with joyful hearts and fond memories that we celebrate the life of Harold Gene Franklin, a lifelong farmer, devoted family man, and beloved community member. Harold left this earthly realm, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication that will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
Born and raised in the rural expanses of Lynn County, H. G. graduated from O’Donnell High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with hard work and achievement. A lifetime farmer, H.G. proudly worked his family land and cultivated a rich connection to the land he loved. His passion for farming wasn’t just a profession; it was a way of life that he embraced wholeheartedly. He retired from farming but remained a steadfast supporter of the agricultural community, earning the respect and admiration of many.
In addition to his dedication to farming, H.G. served as Justice of the Peace and County Judge in Lynn County for over ten years. His commitment to justice and his caring nature endeared him to those he served. His wisdom, compassion, and tireless work ethic made a lasting impact on his community.
In his free time, H.G. found joy in several hobbies, including hunting, golfing, playing dominoes, and tending to his beloved garden. Whether on the golf course or among the blooms of his garden, he radiated a genuine joy that was infectious to all around him. For many years you could find H.G. attending the games of his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders.
H.G. is survived by his son, Bruce Franklin, and his wife, Jayme; his daughter, Becky Franklin; and his cherished grandchildren: Haden Franklin and his wife, Mary; Hutch Franklin and his wife, Erika; and Jacoby Baker and his wife, Heather. He was also the proud grandfather of eleven great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life.
