Geryl Ann “Gerri” Clough Craghead, 91, of Lubbock passed peacefully from this life surrounded by her loving family Sunday, February 9, 2025. A celebration of her beautiful life will be held Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial, Lubbock, Texas.
Gerri was born in Manhattan, Kansas on March 26, 1933. She grew up in Fulton, Missouri, attended William Woods College and graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Gerri met the love of her life, Herb Craghead at Fulton High School. She married her high school sweetheart on September 12, 1954. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Her life’s greatest work and legacy was her family, creating a warm and loving home for her husband and five daughters. Gerri was the ultimate memory maker, even the smallest events felt big and special. Birthdays, holidays, and all celebrations were spun into themed extravaganzas. She was a talented seamstress, pianist and artist.
Gerri is survived by her husband, Herb Craghead and four daughters: Melissa (John) Morgan, Tammy (Lawson) Walden, Cyndi (Andy) Turnipseed, and Jenny (Mitch) Watson. She is also survived by her siblings Victor (Elise) Clough, Susie (Alan) Armstrong, and Forrest (Sandi) Clough. Twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren will dearly miss their grandma. Gerri is proceeded in death by her daughter Sharon Sims, mother Eula Mae Smith, father Victor Clough, brother Joe Clough and son-in-laws Ron Sims and John Sealy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Lubbock Meals on Wheels or First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
