Georgia Lee Godbold passed away on December 28, 2022, at the age of 87.
Georgia Lee was born February 1, 1935, to Randolph and Jesse Britton in Weatherford, TX. The Family moved to the Lubbock Area around 1948. Georgia and her husband Paul were long haul truck drivers for 30 years carrying the U.S. mail twice a week between Dallas and Los Angeles. She liked to brag that she had three million miles on the road. Our fierce, fun, loving mother was a character that few ever forgot once they met her. Georgia was a self-appointed neighborhood watch person. She was known by many in her neighborhood as the little lady with the big hat walking around the block pushing her dog stroller several times a day in the 9th and Milwaukee area. She would stop and talk to everyone. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and were lucky enough to know her.
Georgia Godbold is survived by children Patricia Coon, Jimmy Walker (Gayle), Del Walker (Susie), Kay Saunders (Shelby), Suzanne Mcanally (Steve), and Mary Callaway (Jay).
Georgia was a “Nanny” to 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Godbold (38 years), and her granddaughter Sunshine Saunders Saylor.
A Celebration of her Life is scheduled at 1 pm on January 14, 2023, at the Saunders Party Barn 7412 FM 2641 Shallowater, Texas, under the direction of her family.
Special thanks go to Dr. Floyd Pirtle, Caregivers Maria Montez and Vickie Buckaloo, and her neighbors, who always watched out for her daily.
