Geneva Dot “TuTu” Yates, loved by so many, was born on March 11, 1921, in Pritchett, TX, and passed away on November 22, 2020. She was married to Artie P. Yates, Jr. on April 4, 1943, and they celebrated over 50 years of sharing life together. On March 16, 1947, and June 19, 1949, respectively, she welcomed her two beautiful children, who were the most important part of her life.Dot was the first female in her family to seek higher education and she graduated from Abilene Christian College with a degree in business. She worked in the banking industry, oil and gas industry, and also as an office administrator. Dot was very active in her church and community, spending many hours volunteering and caring for others. She was also an integral part of her family’s life and opened her home to so many. Her time spent at Manor Park and Carillon gave her many fun memories and lasting friendships.Dot is survived by her daughter, Karen Hopkins of Lubbock, TX along with 9 grandchildren (and their spouses) and 22 great-grandchildren. At the ripe age of 99, she was preceded in death by many including her parents, brothers, husband, son, son-in-law, and one grandson.There is no way to put into words the impact TuTu had on so many people. She will forever be a legend to her family and loved and missed dearly.
