Geary Thomas was born April 25, 1942, in Vian, Oklahoma, to parents Faye Rich James and Elmer James. He lived in Vian until he was a teenager, when he went to live with an aunt and uncle, Joye and Fletcher Rich at Girard, TX. He helped his uncle with the farming.
At Girard he met and married his wife, Mary La Rue Turner. They were together 55 years last December.They had a daughter, Suan, in Girard. They later left the farm and moved to Ft. Worth. There, they had a son, Mitchell Todd. Their children were the joy of their life.
Geary managed grain elevators his whole adult life. His company transferred him to Altus, OK, where they lived for over 30 years. Upon retiring, Geary and La Rue moved to Lubbock, TX. He came out of retirement twice and worked until last November.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles James, Perry James, and Larry James.
He is survived by his wife, Mary La Rue; two loving children, Mitchell James of Amarillo, TX, and Suan James Fife and husband, Stewart of Houston; four grandchildren, Noah Fife, Vicky Conlee and husband, Curtis, Jeremy and Aubrey Fife; two great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Anabelle Conlee; brother, Steve and wife, Rene of Sapulpa, OK; three sisters-in-law, Mildred James of O’Fallon, MO, Shirley James of Tulsa, OK, and Kathy James of Kansas City.
