Franklin Kitten, 86, of Lubbock, TX passed away on June 28, 2024. He was born on February 25, 1938, to Frank and Marie Kitten. He attended grade school at St. Joseph School in Slaton and graduated from Cooper High School. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. When he returned, he began a career in farming. He received Farmer of the year in the Slaton Community in 1996. On June 12, 1961, he married Norma Jean Bednarz.
After 40 years of farming, Franklin retired and enjoyed traveling, volunteering at Holy Spirit Church and other community organizations. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was a humble man with a generous spirit who strived for excellence in all he did. His Catholic faith was an essential part of his life.
Franklin is survived by his beloved wife, Norma Jean of 63 years; daughter Tricia Karr(Kendall); son Russell Kitten(Kristi); daughter-in-law Lori Kitten; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren including one boy on the way; sister Margaret Melcher; brothers Alvin Kitten, Henry Kitten and Roy Kitten.
He is preceded in death by his son Tracey Kitten; parents Frank and Marie Kitten; brother Andrew Kitten; sisters Mildred Warren, Mary Frances Kitten, and Colleen Bednarz.

A Rosary to honor Franklin’s life will be held on Monday July 1, 2024, at 6:00 PM followed by a visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at Lake Ridge Chapel & Memorial Designers. There will be a lunch held at 12:00 PM at Holy Spirit Hall followed by a Funeral Mass on Tuesday July 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
