Eusebio “Pete” Hernandez Gonzales, Sr. passed away on May 12, 2019. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 82 years at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.Eusebio “Pete” Hernandez Gonzales, Sr. was born on August 14, 1936, to Cecil and Trinidad Hernandez Gonzales in Rhineland, Texas. Eusebio “Pete” married Rebecca Arguijo on November 24, 1953, in Munday, Texas and they soon moved to Lubbock. After holding several jobs he learned the craft of laying ceramic tile which he did for over forty years. Pete’s work can still be seen around Lubbock at UMC Hospital (marble floor), the Civic Center, Polko Lambro, Texas Tech Architectural Building, Lubbock and Estacado High Schools as well as many other locations.He was passionate about his grandchildren, the Dallas Cowboys, WWE and Encore Westerns. Pete’s hobbies included going to Lubbock Cooper football games, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, officiating his grandchildren’s WWE matches and football games in the living room.He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil F. Gonzales, Sr., and Trinidad Hernandez Gonzales; wife, Rebecca Gonzales; stepmother, Jesusa Gonzales; siblings, Mike Gonzales, Frank Gonzales, Cecil F. Gonzales, Jr., Henry Gonzales, Eva Macias, Maria Cervantez, and Amada Perez.Survivors include his son, Eusebio “Pete” A. Gonzales, Jr. and wife, Betty Ann of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; daughter, Rose Marie Gonzales of Lubbock; son, Sonny Gonzales and wife, Mary of Lubbock; grandchildren, Laly Evans and husband, Luke; Josiah Noel Gonzales, Jennifer M. Gonzales, John A. Miller, Meagan Gonzales, Gunner Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Liam Nicholas Evans, Jonathan D. Gonzales, Jaden R. Gonzales, Analyse Gonzales; great-great-grandchildren, Jeramyah Adame, Kayn Perkins, Noah Gonzales; siblings, Jesse Gonzales, Benita Sanchez and husband, Larry; and Juana Gonzales. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
