Emily Cress SoRelle was born on August 13, 1974, in Haskell, Texas, to Frank and Beverly SoRelle. She passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2023, at the age of 49 due to her lifelong struggle with asthma. Emily was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She will be deeply missed.
Emily grew up in Haskell, Texas, surrounded by family, friends, and country life. She attended school there, graduating from Haskell High School with the class of 1992. After graduation, she moved to Lubbock, Texas, where she lived the remainder of her life. During all her years, she always loved spending time with people. It was said of her that she never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. She loved to dance and have a good Crown and Coke. Emily’s fun side and ability to entertain by telling a story was something people loved about her and was a gift to everyone she knew.
While living in West Texas, Emily worked in the area of car finance. She enjoyed helping people find the perfect vehicle at the best price. She had an eye for a good deal. Outside of work, she loved spending time on the golf course. She was an accomplished golfer since her early years of being the only girl on the Haskell High School golf team. Other joys in her life were being “a fun aunt” to her nephew and niece. They thought she was the most fun from the start.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Owens, Mr. and Mrs. Frankie SoRelle, Jr., and Maxine Haines. She is survived by her parents, Frank and Beverly SoRelle of Lubbock; one sister, Sarah Wright and husband Jeff of Cypress; a nephew and niece, Garrett and Grace Wright of Cypress; two uncles, Bassett Owens of Dallas, and Kenneth SoRelle and wife Susan of Sweetwater; an aunt, Gina McCowin and husband Stanley of Lubbock; and cousins, Gwen Tomlin and husband Todd of Henderson, Renee Meadors and husband Mark of Rockwall, and Allison Meadors of Oklahoma City.
She will be honored and celebrated on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 2pm at Lake Ridge Chapel with Mark McMillan officiating. Following the service, the family will receive guests at the funeral home.
