Doug was born on September 5, 1941 in Levelland, Texas. He graduated from Levelland High School where he was an accomplished athlete and vocalist. Doug graduated from Texas Tech University where he was a quarterback and captain of the baseball team and received his degree in Finance. On May 13, 1961, Douglas married the love of his life, Glennia Campbell, and together they had three children. In 1964, Douglas joined the ROTC program and after graduation he received extra training in cryptography. He continued on to serve as Lieutenant in the Signal Corp. as a Communication Center Officer. After the Army he was employed as the business manager at Lubbock Methodist Hospital. Later, Douglas opened and owned a local State Farm Agency were he served for 31 years and was a registered CLU. He remained a dedicated Texas Tech Red Raider Fan and was active in the Double T Association. He enjoyed playing a game of golf with friends and restoring antique automobiles. Doug’s true passion was his wife of 54 years. He will be greatly missed. Doug is survived by his wife, Glennia Cannon; their children, Douglas Wayne Cannon, Jr. and wife, Erin, Rhonda Walton and husband, Greg, and Tracy Brock and husband, James; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Cutler, Boone, Cameron Merimon, Melissa Oakeley and husband, Daren; Caylom, and Keaton Walton, Kyler Walton and wife, Sydni, Zack Buford, and Tiffany Schuler, and husband, Jeffrey; a great-granddaughter, Kortlyn Brielle Oakeley. Beloved family resides in Texas and Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ilene Cannon.
