Dorothy Marie Phipps Goode passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 87 years at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015, in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. A tribute of Dorothy’s life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family.Dorothy Marie was born on June 24, 1928 to Claude and Susie Averett Phipps in Colorado City, Texas. On September 16, 1944, Dorothy married the love of her life, Dayton Goode in Clovis, New Mexico.Dorothy moved to Lubbock in 1934 with her parents. She and her husband were married for 68 years. Dorothy was runner up for Mrs. Lubbock in 1947. She worked in the medical field as a business manager for the surgical team of Salem, Stirman, Bricker, Daulton, and Allen for 15 years. She was also a real estate agent in Lubbock. She worked for Grand Central Station Antiques before her retirement. Dorothy was a grand seamstress, sewing for the public and her family. Dorothy was also known as the “cake lady” she loved to bake and take cakes to her neighbors. Her hobbies were crafts, macramÌ©, green-ware, gilding, painted landscapes, and quilting. She was a natural decorator and dedicated homemaker. Her family wants you to know that she was the best wife, the best mother, grandmother, and friend. Survivors include her children, Randy Goode, Lampasas, Texas and Claudia Dea and husband, David, Durango, Colorado; grandsons, Rowdy Goode and wife, Amy, Lance Goode, Austin, Texas, Jack Dea, Portland, Oregon; granddaughter, Jamie Dea, Beacon, New York; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Carter Goode. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dayton Weldon Goode, who died on April 11, 2012.
