Our beloved Doris Louise Gailey went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 17, 2018. Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a gathering of friends and family on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm. Graveside service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, 2 pm at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Doris was born on August 7, 1928 to Theo and Janie (Marshall) Barton in Knox City, TX. She graduated from O’Donnell High School and married Jack Gailey, Jr. They owned and operated Tri-Way Grocery in east Lubbock for over thirty years. Doris was very dedicated to her work and her faith. She worked for LaDew Fire Protection as an office manager. Doris also worked as an assistant Administrator for the Slaton Care Center for many years. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Silver Spurs Chapter, and received the American Business Woman of the Year in 1984. Doris also modeled several years for Margaret’s Department Store and was a member of Trinity Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Gailey, Jr.; and two sons, Sammy Lynn Gilliam and Dennis Herman Crawford.
Doris is survived by her granddaughters, Tammie Ware and Belinda Jones; great-grandchildren, Macey Ware, Amanda, Amber and Nick Jones, and Talen Bockman; brother, Marshall Barton and wife, Cathie; and three nieces, Tandy Riddle, Marsha Barton and Brandi Sitter.
Doris was passionate about animals and loved her dogs greatly.
