Doris Darnell

Our cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Doris Darnell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. A private graveside service was held on July 21.Doris was born to David and Flower Wright on August 22, 1927, in Childress, TX. She had an adventurous childhood with her six siblings and graduated from Childress High School. Doris later met J. C. Darnell and they were married on March 21, 1947. Doris was a humble and selfless individual whose family was the love and joy of her life. As Doris raised her children, she became the #1 baseball fan for sons and grandsons; oh, how she loved the many, many…many baseball games she attended. Jim, Jack, and Jared each played under our beloved Coach Bobby Moegle at Monterey High School.Doris had many fur babies through the years and they each loved her as much as she loved them. She loved sports and was an avid Red Raider fan. Doris was also a fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. She could talk sports’ stats with the best.Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister will be greatly missed and never forgotten by her family; son, Jim Bob (Kara); daughter, Kaythie; grandson, Jared (Jayme); granddaughters, Krisa Payne (Hunter) and Kari Hobson (Travis); great-grandchildren, Thomas and Adley Payne; and Wren Darnell. She is also survived by her brother, Harold Dean Wright of Euless; sisters, Della Seal of Sinton, TX, and Diane Wright of Childress; and several nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband, JC; daughter-in-law, Jan; son, Jack who passed on June 3, 2017.The family would like to give special thanks to Rosita Diaz, Covenant Palliative Care, Crown Point, Accolade Hospice and Home Health, and Heartland House for the love and kindness shown to our mother.
