Donna Carroll Smith was born in Canyon, Texas on November 13, 1954, to the late Waylon and Ruth Carroll. She was raised in Lubbock, Texas, graduating from Monterey High School and Texas Tech University, receiving her degree in Early Childhood Development.
She married Stan Smith in 1977 and had three sons in Lubbock. The family then moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico for nine years, before returning to Lubbock. A dedicated stay-at-home mom, she homeschooled her three sons until 2001 when she began working full-time at TTU Independent School District. She then worked as the Graduate Advisor for the TTU Chemistry and Biochemistry department, where she enjoyed welcoming and assisting international students from many different countries until her retirement.
To her great surprise, in 1996, she discovered she was talented in art, and developed this professionally in both china painting and watercolor. Donna taught painting classes locally in Lubbock and the surrounding areas for many years. She enjoyed participating in the local china clubs of Lubbock and Brownfield.
Donna’s love for the Lord was evident in her faithful raising up of her sons in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, her gift of mercy to those around her, and in her expression of the Lord’s beauty through her art.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brothers, David (Celia) and Don (Kathy) Carroll and their children, her three sons, Joshua, Timothy, and Jonathan Smith, their father, Stan Smith, and her grandson Michael.
She peacefully entered His rest on January 10, 2025, at the age of 70.
