Trent Petty left a message on September 6, 2023:
My deepest condolences and prayers to Cathy and Don's family. I worked with Don at the time he was appointed Chief in Lubbock and have thought of him often over the years. Don was a friend and a mentor, a true professional in every sense of the word. When we lose a family member, part of the grieving process is the comfort that comes from the realization that your loved one touched so many more lives than you were even aware of and in ways you couldnt have imagined. Don was a class act with an incredible impact and he will be missed. Trent and Mary Petty
Jay Parchman left a message on September 6, 2023:
Don was my friend, my mentor and my co-worker. If ever there was a man who was crystal clear on God's mission for his life and who was totally dedicated to fulfilling that mission in each and every way, it was Don. Cathy, please know that I am thinking of you and your entire family and praying that God will provide each of you with comfort and peace in the days ahead..

Cathy and family, my heart felt condolences on the passing of your loved one. Having worked with Don on the Lubbock PD and knowing the man he was and that he exhibited having a personal relationship with Christ.
