“Donald Merle Castator, 89, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Don was born December 22, 1926, in Garrett, Indiana, to Chester Lorenzo and Vera Lucille (Burnett) Castator. He graduated from Indiana University and worked for International Harvester Company in Indianapolis, Indiana before joining the Navy at the start of the Korean War. He met his wife, June Anita Vance, while he was stationed at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. After the war, he continued to work for International Harvester and retired from Case IH in 1989. He was a member of the Rafters Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock, and he enjoyed visiting with his friends at Lifestyles Center. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1947.
Don is survived by the love of his life, June, his wife of 60 years; son, Vance and wife, Sharlene of Lake Jackson; daughter, Nancy Mehner and husband, Martin of Lubbock; grandchildren, Candice Ellis, Michael Castator, Lauren Crofton, and Travis Mehner; and three great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Doris Haile of Raleigh, North Carolina; nephews, David Whan of Fishers, Indiana, and Don Whan of Fort Wayne, Indiana; nieces, Linda Gosnell of Lakeland, Tennessee, and Sally Haile of Raleigh, North Carolina.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sibling, Louise Whan of Avilla, Indiana; nephews, Tommy Whan and Robert Haile.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Ever Living Church Trust of First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas, 79401 or a favorite charity.”
