Richard I. “Dick” Kirby passed away Monday, May 28, 2018. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 87 years on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 2 pm at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with a reception to follow. A tribute of Dick’s life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.

Dick was born on October 25, 1930 the only child of John and Susan (Snow) Kirby in Rockwall, TX. He graduated from North Texas State in Denton and served in the US Army 1953-1955.  On November 8, 1973, Dick married Laverne Attaway.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Laverne.

Dick was a successful State Farm Insurance Agent for 29 years, and was active in Boy Scouts, Lubbock Chorale, and loved to travel the world. He accomplished his goal of setting foot on all seven continents.

Dick is survived by his four children, Janet Harmon, Lee Kirby and wife Charlotte, Cliff Attaway and wife Katherine, and Richard Attaway and wife Angie, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

  1. We will miss Dick and our fun and interesting conversations. He was one of the first people we met here at Raider Ranch. Dick and his family will be in our thoughts. Joe and I will be out of town for his services. I think Dick would be okay with that since we will be on a cruise; we all know how much he loved cruising. Rest In Peace my friend.
