Derrick Russell Archer, 41, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 after a lengthy battle with pulmonary fibrosis. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, Lubbock, TX.Derrick was born February 15, 1978 in Pampa, TX to Rick and Sherilyn Archer. Derrick graduated from Pampa High School and attended Texas Tech University. Derrick was self-employed in the lawn and landscaping business as well as the construction business installing utilities via road bores. He was involved in numerous large irrigation projects around Lubbock and surrounding cities.As an avid sportsman, gun enthusiast, archery, fishing and boating activities he loved the outdoors and being able to hunt and fish around the country with his parents and brother as a boy and later on with his children. Derrick enjoyed cooking and barbequing for family and friends and was quite proficient in the kitchen.On October 9, 2004 he married Jodie Kilmer and they became parents to three beautiful children, Cooper, Allie and Brinklie. Derrick dearly loved his family. He was active in baseball and coached up until a couple of years ago which gave him and Jodie an opportunity to spend one on one time with his children. He was extremely active in youth baseball serving as coach, board member, district administrator, grounds keeper and whatever else it took to help youngsters become better ball players.Derrick is survived by his wife, Jodie; son Cooper Archer; two daughters Allie and Brinklie Archer; his mother Sherilyn Archer of Pampa, TX; brother Dirk (Ali) Archer of Galveston, TX. He is preceded in death by his father, Rick Archer.
