Lillian “Dell” Prescott Jones, 91, of Idalou was called home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
She was the oldest of 4 children born in Millen, Georgia, to Wilbur and Lillian Jenkins Prescott on October 29, 1925.
Dell graduated from Waynesboro High School in Waynesboro, Ga and Andrew Methodist College for Women in Cuthbert, Ga. She taught school in Columbus, Ga. and during WWII served as secretary for a school teaching English to German POW’s at Fort Benning, Ga. She married Emmett L. Jones on February 1, 1945. They moved south of Petersburg, TX to farm before moving to Idalou, TX in 1973.
Dell was the Idalou elementary school secretary for 21 years, retiring in 1995. She was a long-time member of the Idalou Methodist Church, Wesley Fellowship class and Civic and Culture Club.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Susan Lindsey and husband, Larry of Lubbock; son, Chuck Jones and his wife Renee, of Conroe. She was grandmama to her grandchildren, Joe Alan Jones and wife, Laura of Conroe; Amanda Lindsey of Fort Worth; Ashley Lindsey of Lubbock; Jake Jones of Amarillo, and Bailey Neill of Conroe; and six great-grandchildren: Bryleigh, Kade, Nick, Jackson, Payton and Ella Jones, all of Conroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Joe Prescott and Lamar Prescott; sister, Anne Thompson and a granddaughter-in-law, Franzi Jones.
