A service to celebrate the life of Debrajean Kerr Wheeler is scheduled at 10:30 am on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by a time of fellowship with family and friends. She died on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the age of 67.
Debrajean was born February 14, 1955, to Ernest and Ruby Lee Kerr in Muleshoe, TX. She was the baby of the family behind her sisters Pam and Lindy. She loved to sing and made the All-Region Choir in high school as a soprano. After graduating from Muleshoe High School, she attended West Texas A&M and ultimately ended up in Abilene, TX working for Halliburton. She moved to Lubbock in 1986 and went to work for Texas Tech in the Atmospheric Sciences Department. After a stint learning and teaching stenography for court reporters she worked for an insurance company as their accounting manager in the mid 90’s. She stayed there until 2009 before returning to Texas Tech as an administrative assistant for the Philosophy Department. She remained there until her retirement in 2021. Throughout her life she had a love for cats, enjoyed going to the horse races, traveling, laughing with friends, and spending time with family.
Debrajean is survived by her son Shea Kerr (and his wife DyAna), grandkids Kandace, Tyler & Abby, her sister Lindy Schuster (and her husband Alec), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Ruby Lee Kerr, and sister Pamela Fowler.
