Debbie Grass was a beloved mother, Mamo, and cherished friend. She peacefully left this world on February 5, 2025 at the age of 68. Debbie was born on January 25,1957 to parents Paul and Opal Grass in Seminole, Texas. She graduated from Seminole High School, where she was a twirler and furthered her education at Odessa College in nursing. After receiving her degree, moved to Lubbock to begin her career.
Debbie was a dedicated pillar in the medical community. She became nurse manager of the emergency room at University Medical Center where she helped lead them to become the areas Level 1 Trauma Center. She then took pride in working At Grace Surgical Center and Lubbock Heart Hospital in the emergency room. Even through her hard cancer journey with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation.. She was determined to work hard, care for her patients, and save lives as she was fighting for hers. Debbie was a mentor to many of our great nurses, a true leader, and was extremely passionate about the care of others. After dedicating over 45 years to her nursing career, she retired only 3 months ago.
Debbie will always be known for vibrant and comical personality and her radiant spirit. She was a avid sports fan… She knew more about sports than majority of people. She enjoyed vacations to the beach.. Spending the entire day relaxing with a good book, toes in the sand, and of course people watching. She loved to shop.. Shopping small businesses and boutiques were her favorite… And we cant forget about her pink nails.
Family and friends were so very important to Debbie. Her commitment to her family and friends was unwavering. She found the most joy at gatherings, football games, celebrating all the milestones, and creating countless unforgettable memories. Her role as a mother to her two children-Jill and Benji, and a Mamo to her 5 grandsons and great granddaughter that will define the legacy she leaves behind.
Debbie is survived by her children, Jill Scarborough (Lynn Bridges), Benji Espinoza (Tweety); grandchildren, Taylor Scarborough (Lexi Coates), Chelsea Bridges, Aaron Espinoza, Christian Wren (Kasi Drake), Jonathan Jordan, Addison Espinoza, Pete Jordan, Lili Jordan, and Jaxon Bridges; great grandchildren, Raena Scarborough and Skylar Shirley; Brother, Michael Grass (Sara); nephew, Matthew Grass.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Opal Grass.
