It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Allen Tate, who left us on January 18, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on October 5, 1951, in Corpus Christi, Texas, David lived a life full of love, adventure, and hard work. Born into a Navy family, he grew up moving around until 1968 when he moved to Lubbock. In 1969, he graduated from Monterey High School and attended Texas Tech University.
David married the love of his life, Charlie Chambles, on October 5, 1973, in Lubbock. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter and cherished memories. David found success in his career, first with JC Penney, where he served as a department manager and assistant manager, and later as the proud owner of David Tate Insurance Company. His dedication to his work and community was evident, and he served as a life director for the Texas Association of Builders.
An avid outdoorsman, David loved spending his spare time at White River Lake hunting and fishing. But nothing brought him more joy than the moments spent with his family, particularly with his grandchildren.
David had a deep love for the Lord, and his faith guided him throughout his life.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Charlie; his daughters, Tammy (Matt) Willis and Jody (Kevin) Acrey; his cherished granddaughters, Aden Acrey and Tate Willis, and grandson, Robert Willis; his twin sister, Debra Tate; and his niece and nephew, Allison Tate-Cortese and James Tate-Cortese. His legacy of love and kindness will continue through all who were fortunate enough to know him.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James David and Sarah Arlean (Diggs) Tate.
