On July 23, 1940, Darrell Allen Anderson was born to Doyle Allen and Lu Elby (Jeffreys) Anderson in Quemado, TX.  The majority of Andy’s youth was spent in Plainview where he grew up helping his father on the family farm.  Andy later graduated from Abilene Christian University where he met the first love of his life, Glenna Collins.  They were married shortly thereafter and had three wonderful children.  Andy was very active in his children’s upbringing and it included coaching the boys in little league and football.  Andy was blessed with eight grandchildren and his favorite pastime was watching and encouraging each of them in various activities, which included no less than a couple of hundred baseball games, numerous dance recitals, cheer competitions, and tennis matches.  Andy was blessed to discover the second love of his life several years after Glenna’s passing, Nicky Standlee.  Together they were married for 11 years and enjoyed traveling and attending their combined grandkid events.  As a former Realtor and Saving & Loan Executive, Andy was involved in numerous community organizations over the years.  Andy never met a stranger and he enjoyed having a good time.  Most importantly, Andy was a believer and long-time member of Broadway Church of Christ.  We celebrate now that his body is healed and we rejoice knowing that he is in the presence of Jesus.

Survivors include his wife, Nicky Anderson; sons, Darren (Cindy) Anderson, and Drew (Shelby) Anderson; bonus son, Jarod (Becky) Standlee; grandchildren, Parker (Carrie) Snedden, Conner (Lauren) Snedden, Kaylee (Gregg) Calvin, Douglas (Taylor) Anderson, Cydnee (Michael) McCullough, Cole (Race) Anderson, Cash Anderson, Chaney Anderson, Caghan Standlee, and Cade Standlee; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Kinley, Austen, Reese, Charlsey and Andie (Andy’s namesake); and a sister, Jolene Hancock.  Andy was always very fond of Dana’s husband, Pat Snedden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dana Snedden; his first wife, Glenna Anderson; brothers, Leon and Ronald Anderson; and a brother-in-law, Joe Don Hancock.

The family of Darrell A. “Andy” Anderson has designated the Children’s Home of Lubbock for memorial contributions donated in his memory.
