Cynthia Marie Nelson

The family of Cynthia Marie Nelson will celebrate her life of 63 years at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Cynthia passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020.  In support of the health of our community, the seating is limited due to the social distancing requirement set by Governor Abbott. You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy by selecting the icon.Cynthia Marie Nelson was born on January 1, 1957, to Darwin and Dixie Nelson in Park Falls, Wisconsin she was the first baby born at the hospital in 40 years. She graduated high school at Goddard in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1981. Cynthia then attended and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University, earning her degree in educational studies. She taught as a teacher in Hobbs, New Mexico, Alamogordo, New Mexico, as well as in El Paso, Texas, and Rancho Cucamonga, California. She loved teaching and making a difference in children’s lives.Survivors include her daughter, Hannah Marie Burciaga, and husband, Anthony; four grandchildren, Anthony, Chad, Christopher, and Alexander Burciaga; father, Darwin Nelson, and his wife, Helen; and sister, Lisa Jennings.She was preceded in death by her mother, Dixie Nell Nelson.
