Charlie Nealy Brown Jr. passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 72 years at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 3, 2019, followed by a reception at First Baptist Church in Idalou. Charlie married Janet Parsons on March 1, 1975, at the First Baptist Church in Spur, Texas.Charlie was a retired Lubbock Fire Fighter who served the community for 27 years. During this time, he also worked as a custom cabinet builder. Charlie and his wife, Jan, had a passion for mission work and served with the International Health Service in Honduras for 30 years. Later, they would serve in other missions and service projects in the US and outside. His other hobbies and interests included HAMM Radio, Scuba Diving, Camping, and general construction projects. Using his many talents and skills to help his family and others was a passion of his that affected many people and serves as a great example to future generations.Survivors include his wife, Jan Brown; children, Amy Ivins, and husband, Mike; Matt Brown and wife, Olivia; grandchildren, Logan, and Rylie Ivins; sister, Lanell Clary, and husband, Neil; and niece, Nancy Clary.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Nealy, Sr. and Alma Elizabeth Brown; and granddaughter, Dae’Lynn Brown.
