The family of Charles “Charlie” Pevehouse will celebrate his life of 86 years at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, February 25, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel.  Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Cemetery.  He passed on Thursday, February 17, 2022.  We invite you to view the live-streamed service, sign his virtual guestbook and download his website keepsake to your device for printing here on this page.  We also ask you to view his Life Tribute, a video of photographs set to his favorite music.

On November 4, 1935, Charlie was born to Samuel L. and Beulah Reed Pevehouse in Frost, Texas.  He married Betty Webb on June 15, 1956, in Lubbock, Texas.

Charlie worked as a ceramic tile contractor in Lubbock for 68 years doing both residential and commercial jobs.  He worked hard his entire life and was known as one of the best in his field and respected by everyone he worked with.

He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching football and basketball.  He always said that he “hated the Dallas Cowboys because they fired Tom Landry,” yet he never missed one of their games.

He loved to go on vacation to Las Vegas with his wife and to attend the Professional Bull Riding every November.

Charlie was also actively involved in the greyhound racing business for over 35 years having bred and raised many championship dogs.

He had a couple of small farms in the Lubbock area.  He loved watching the cotton crop grow throughout the summer and especially at the end of the season when all the hard work finally paid off.  He also raised a few calves each year and loved spending time tending to them.

Charlie was a 51-year recovered alcoholic.  He quit drinking on September 9, 1971.  His recovery anniversary was one of his proudest accomplishments.  He was instrumental in serving as a mentor to many others and encouraged them along the way to achieve their own sobriety.

Charlie was a friend to everyone he met and was well known as a joke teller.  He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Betty Pevehouse; their children, Dennis (Christine) Pevehouse, Danny (Susie) Pevehouse, Debbie (Alton) Lloyd; grandchildren, Lindsay (Jeremy) Monroe, Kimberly (Cameron) Ethridge, Lance (Lauryn) Pevehouse, Kortnee (Tanner) Echols, Chance (Chelsi) Pevehouse, Colton (Julie) Swopes; great-grandchildren Henley Monroe, Cooper and Tripp Ethridge, Brinley and Kasen Pevehouse, Kolbie and Karlee Echols, River and Rylan Pevehouse, Grayson and Ruby Swopes; sister Jo Ralston; and many nieces and nephews.
