Lubbock, Charles Wayne “Pop” Neeb, age 81, formerly of Lubbock, TX was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was a graduate of Cross Plains High School in 1959. He served his country from September 5, 1963, to February 19, 1964, as a member of the United States Army National Guard stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Charles was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Stockton, Texas for 51 years where he served on every committee from Chairman of the Administrative Board to the Nursery Committee. Upon moving to Lubbock, Texas he joined the First United Methodist Church of Lubbock. He was fiercely passionate about his love for the Lord. He shared his passion with others in the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. His faith in God was the most important thing in his life, and his family was second. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Entomology from Texas Tech University and a Master’s Degree in Entomology from Texas A&M University. He was hired as an Entomologist for the Texas A&M Agricultural Extension Service in January of 1965 and became the Far West District Director in 1984. Charles was the Director of Research at the Pecos Station. He retired from the Extension Service in August of 2002. Charles’ talents were many, he was a fine Sunday School teacher, avid golfer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, proud community member, football fanatic, and friend who loved to joke and play. Charles was a member of the LakeRidge Men’s Senior Golf Association and the Rotary Club of Lubbock. His favorite golf memory was on October 3, 2010, when he shot a Hole in One on Hole 12 at the Desert Pines Golf Course. He enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He took great pleasure in taking the kids and grandkids on trips each summer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Wilson Neeb and his wife Lois Theola Payne Neeb; one brother, Howard Lee and his wife, Tina Marie; and one sister, Joyce Nell, and her husband, Sheryl Whitlow Taylor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha Cheryl (Walker); son, Phillip Wayne Neeb and his wife Denise; daughter, Kelli Leigh Kemp and her husband Chris; daughter, Lesley Ann Aguilar and her husband, Trey; two grandsons, Colton Christopher Kemp and his fiancée, Jenna Richardson, and Thomas Wayne Neeb; four granddaughters, Lexi Taylor Brown and her husband Landry Brown, Meredith Lee Neeb, Ansley Rose Aguilar, and Addison Cheryl Aguilar; one great-grandson, Parker Wayne Brown; and one brother-in-law, Mark Alan Walker.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway Ave. with Dr. Todd Salzwedel and John Barrett officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd St. We invite you to visit to view the live-streamed service, sign his virtual guestbook, and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.
