A memorial service celebrating the life of Caroline Ladd Portues, 84, of Lubbock, TX will be held at Lakeridge Chapel and Memorial Designers on Friday, August 2 at 6:00 p.m. with the Pastor Stormy Swann of Faith Christian Family Church officiating. She passed peacefully through Heaven’s gate on July 25, 2019. To offer condolences, visit www.memorialdesigners.net.Caroline was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 15, 1935 to George H. Ladd and Margaret Van Dyke Wait Ladd. She attended Brooklyn College. She worked in Manhattan, Rockefeller Center at American Cyanamid. She had a passion for music and played piano concerts at The Brooklyn Academy of Music getting standing ovations for Chopin, her favorite composer. She sang First Soprano with the Rockefeller Center Choristers and the prestigious Charles Pope Choristers. She sang in the choir during the historical, 3-month-long 1957 Billy Graham Crusade in NYC.She married the love of her life, Donald S. Portues in June 1958 and had two children. She also had an unquenchable desire to know Jesus and was blessed to have met such influential people such as Corrie Ten Boom, Billy Graham, Dave Wilkerson, Bros. Andrew and Norman Grubb speaking into her life. She loved fresh cut flowers and always had them in her home. She was an excellent cook and loved to have friends over to eat and visit. She loved people and ministered the gospel to everyone. She was a lover of the truth, justice and country.After moving to Lubbock, TX in 1983, she continued to make lifelong friends with her love of Jesus and speaking His Truth. She was a member of the body of Christ while attending her beloved church, Faith Christian Family Church, where many lovingly called her “Mom”. Caroline was cherished and honored by many friends and family.Survivors include her daughters, Kim Allyson Portues and Laura Jean George, both of Lubbock, TX; nephews Don, Jeffrey and Brian Gunn, nieces Beth Miller of Ruidoso, NM and Jenann Kline of Arkansas and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Portues, sisters Harriett Kline and Margaret Ladd and granddaughter Amanda Brooke Criswell.
