Buzz Rutherford

October 22, 1956 - January 26, 2017
Buzz was born on October 22, 1956, to Kenneth and Nancy (Nixon) Rutherford in Lubbock, and graduated from Monterey High School.  A lifelong resident of Lubbock, Buzz dedicated his career of 30 plus years as a product merchandiser working for Great Plains Distributors, Lubbock Beverage Company, Terk Distributing, andWeldon Reichart, Inc.  In addition to the beverage industry, he was operations manager of Texas Candle Company fouryears.  He was an organ donor.  His special interests included photography, fishing, and he was a avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech fan. Buzz was also dedicated to his family and spending time with them was a major priority.
He was preceded in death by father, Kenneth Ezell Rutherford, a sister, Brenda Kay Rutherford, and his beloved dog, Oscar.
Buzz is survived by his mother, Nancy Lea Rutherford, a daughter, Amy Messer and husband Brian of Lubbock, four grandchildren:  Alexis “Punkin” and Bailey “Peanut” Byrd, and Hudson and Weston Messer, a brother, Don WayneRutherford and wife Susie Murphy of Houston, and a sister, Kandy Sue Myers of Colorado Springs, CO.
