Buddy, Sidney R., Hampton, 73, a resident of Katy, Texas. passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by a time of fellowship.

Buddy was a graduate of Texas Tech University. He was a coach for LISD, owned and operated IBS of Lubbock. After realizing, retirement wasn’t for him he became a realtor.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Hampton; son, Mike Hampton and friend, Robyn Evans; daughter, Lara Miller and husband, Paul; grandchildren, the apples of his eyes, Ryan and Sydney Miller; brother, Jerry Hampton; sister, Skeet Cain and husband Joe; brother and sister-in-laws, Russ and Dorothy Overgard; Dan and Kaylynn Curry, and special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Allene Hampton, and brother, Gene Hampton.

In our age of instant news I missed the story about Buddy’s death. He was one of my first real life heroes when he was playing baseball at Monterey. I listened to their games on the radio during 1963 season when Buddy was senior. He was a great baseball player and equally great person. My condolences to your family.

We were sad to hear of Buddy’s passing. He was our realtor when we moved to Lubbock in 2005. He was a great guy and know he will be missed by many. Our condolences to your family.

Linda, I am so sorry to hear about you losing Buddy. I have such fond memories of him on the baseball team in high school. He was a good friend during that special time in my life. It is comforting to know he is now on God's team! May the wonderful memories of your life together carry you through the sad days ahead.

Viv and I want to express our sorrow and condolences to Linda and her family, as well as to Jerry and Skeet. It's sad to hear when family whom Ron and I had been endeared to while growing up passes on. You guys have always been on our hearts and minds even though we had not been in touch much over the years. God Bless.

Buddy was a great mentor and friend to me as a new competitor in the fall of 1980, and for the balance of his time in the battery business. We had a very unusual relationship for competitors, freely exchanging information about prospective and former customers, as well as helping each other out when an inventory item was not in stock at our place, but in the inventory of the other--never paying for the items but simply borrowing and replacing at the next shipment. This was at Buddy's insistence! When I lost my business partner by murder, Buddy even offered to deliver my orders for a few days so that I could recoup. Missed communicating in the last few years, but always grateful for our friendship.

Linda, Lara, and, Mike. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of Buddy. I have so many wonderful memories of times spent with all of you. I consider Buddy one of the best friends I ever had, someone I had a lot of respect for, and a friend I will certainly miss. May God bless all of you. Rest in peace Buddy

Linda, how saddened I was to hear of Buddy's passing. He was a great friend to me in junior and senior high. I will always remember him joking and laughing and playing ball! Nataly and I are saddened by your loss. I always admired Buddy for his candor and wit, and the athletic abilities I never had. We really wanted to see him again recently but will for sure see him later together with Christ. He probably already has Aunt Ruby, John, and the apostles rolling over with his charming humor.

He was a loving husband and caring father and he cherished his grandchildren. To me he was a great brother, a truly caring human being. Like you I will miss him. Linda, Mike and Lara, although we are filled with sadness for our loss we can take great joy in knowing Buddy is with God watching over you and his beautiful grand babies. He was an inspiration to us all and fought long and hard. It's time for his rest now and finally everlasting peace. Love to you all.

Linda, Mike and Lara, I am so sorry for your great loss. Someone once said, "The thread of life is fragile, but the fabric of life is eternal." What a great "life giving" inheritance Buddy left for his friends and family! He gave gifts of love, hope, dedication, honesty and faith. We know that the direction of Buddy's life led him not to the grave but to God. May Buddy Hampton rest in peace in God's house.
