If you are unable to attend, we invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign his virtual guestbook, and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.Born August 22, 1936, in Harvey, Il, to parents Kenneth and Lois Motlong, Bruce was a graduate from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1959 with a degree in Industrial Design. He first worked for Ten Eyck Design in Kansas, doing design work for many companies, including Cessna, a few of which got the attention of Aero Commander, and he was asked to join their design team in Oklahoma City, OK, in 1962. There he worked on the interior layout of the Turbo Commander and Jet Commander. In 1967, his design talents were picked up by the upstart aircraft company Windecker Research at the Midland/Odessa Airport, where he worked on the first composite airplane ever to be certified by the FAA. The Windecker Eagle, Immortalized on the cover of Flying Magazine, now graces the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. He moved to Lubbock in 1971, where he was head of the Technical Plastics Division of Modular Technology, Corporation. Preferring to work for himself, he started a shop on the side, Fiberglass Specialists, which became his creative outlet and profession from 1974 until he took down his shingle in 2018. Even in retirement, he stayed busy working for several local car dealers, where he loved driving and delivering new and used cars all over.Bruce has been a faithful member of the Worship Center since 2003 and greatly valued both the ministry staff and his friends there. He loved greeting the kids before the service with his signature “High Five.”Bruce is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Alline Motlong (née Miller); sister, Pat Edwards; brother, Bill Motlong; children, Wendy Masiello (Tom), Blake Motlong (Diana), Joli Cole (Randy), and Joshua Motlong (Sarah); grandchildren, Michael Masiello, Robert Masiello, Jordan Motlong, Taylor Motlong, Alexa Lehman Nelson, Carson Cole, Lily Cole, Mattie Cole, Ava Grace Nelson, Isabella Motlong, Sienna Motlong, Josiah Motlong, Carolina Motlong; and three great-grandchildren, McKenzie Masiello, Madison Masiello and Morgan Masiello.
