Billy Joe Evans, beloved husband, dad, grandad, and great-grandad, went to his heavenly home on Monday, May 28, 2018.
Billy Joe was born on May 12, 1928, to E. Roy and Delia Ann (Newell) Evans near County Line, TX. He graduated from Shallowater High School. On December 18, 1946, he married the love of his life, Noma Lee Pettiet in Wilson, Texas. Throughout their marriage, they faithfully served the Lord and were longtime members of Trinity Church, where he served as a deacon and they were involved in the Prime Timers’ class. Billy Joe was a dedicated farmer, realtor, and owner/operator of Jacob’s Well for eight years. More importantly, he was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and loved to share his testimony and the Word with others as he served with the Gideons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, R.D. Evans; and a sister, Gladys Burford.
Billy Joe is survived by his loving wife of seventy-one years, Noma Lee Evans; four children: Shirley Warren (Gary) Lubbock, Mickie Matthews (Randy) Dallas, Debbie Schmidt (Milton) Lubbock, and Kevin Evans (Lisa) Plano; eleven grandchildren: Vanessa Matthews, Marc Matthews (Trisha), Jason Matthews (Julia), Andrea Abraham, Ashley Warren, Ben Schmidt, Emily DeForde, Reagan Evans (Amy), Rachael Stimson (Chris), Rebecca Bratcher (Lee), and Rylie Evans; fourteen great-grandchildren: Eli, Leah, Jenna, Heidi, Caleb, Mia, Maggie, Sam, and Jonathan Matthews, Weston and Lucy Evans, McKenzie Bratcher, Roger Stimson, Calvin DeForde, and nephew, Alvin Evans.
The family wants to thank Dr. Brad Snodgrass and staff; Rita Mitchell, NP, and the Crown Point Health Suites nurses and aides for their compassionate care.
