Betty Sheron Johnson peacefully concluded her life in Lubbock, Texas, on December 21, 2023, at 83 years of age. Betty was born on Nov. 25, 1940, to Audrey and Velma (Coker) Masker in Haskell, Texas. She grew up in Haskell and graduated from Haskell High School in 1959. Betty married the love of her life and best friend, Buddy Johnson, on Oct. 10, 1961. They moved to the Lubbock area in 1963 and began ranching after moving to Slaton in 1968. Together they had one daughter, Sharon, and fostered many children in their home throughout the years. Betty was a rancher’s wife for over 30 years and devoted lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
A deep trust and love in God graced Betty’s life. She demonstrated her faith, love and hope in her interactions with those around her. Many will miss her friendship, her wisdom, her sense of humor. Betty never knew a stranger and was friend to all who met her. She loved without boundaries. May her memory be our blessing.
Betty joyfully, faithfully, and lovingly fulfilled her roles as beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend. She lived as an expansive and accepting spirit, with humor and laughter, with compassion and wisdom, leaving this world a better place because of her presence in it.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Mary Alice White; brothers, Thomas Joe Mansker and Robert Pleman Mansker.
Those left to carry on her memory are her daughter, Sharon Tyner of Lubbock, Tx; three grandchildren, Dwayne (Madeleine) Johnson of Naval Station Yokosuka Japan, Heather (Matt)Van Der Noord of Eagar, Az, and Tandra (Christian) Lee of Lubbock, Tx; five great-grandsons, Jalen (Anna), Cason, Matthew, Nathaniel, Alvin and new grandchild expected to arrive in February; one great-great granddaughter; Haven; two sister-in laws, Vergie Lee Felton and Ilene Mansker, one brother in law, Charles Allen Johnson; her dear cousin and life-long best friend, Linda Camp; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
