Betty Maurine Cusimano, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on June 2, 2023. She was born on August 31, 1944, in Jayton, Texas to Dell and Lillie Irvin. Betty grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico, but settled in Lubbock, Texas in the early 1970s. She graduated from nursing school in 1979. She worked as an ICU and endoscopy nurse at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital for many years in her early career. She spent the majority of her later career as a GI nurse at Lubbock Digestive Disease Associates.
Betty really enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She was an avid reader, and she loved puzzles and playing cards. Betty was a hard worker and had a rare and remarkable work ethic.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Donie Irvin.
She is survived by her sister Deborah (David) Frederick, Lake Brownwood, Texas; and her three children, David Aston, Lubbock, Texas, Deborah (Seth) Cox, Hobbs, New Mexico, and Charla (Robbie) Sanders, Buffalo Springs Lake, Texas. Betty is also survived by grandchildren Lauren (Kris) Foust, Dylan Bliss, Clint Aston, Samantha Manuel, Cutter Edwards, Katie Barger, and Cale Cox; and great-grandchildren Chloe, Emmit, Blakely, and Kelbi.
A service to celebrate the life of Betty Maurine Cusimano is scheduled at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel, followed by a graveside service at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
