It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Adele Henderson, who left us peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 20, 1942, in Jacksonville, TX, Betty was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted educator, and a wonderful friend to many.
Betty earned her bachelor’s degree from Lamar University and dedicated her life to teaching, shaping young minds until her retirement. Her passion for education was matched only by her love for sports—she was an avid fan of baseball and basketball, always cheering for her favorite teams. Betty would be found in the local gymnasiums watching her sons and grandchildren play. This passion continued for many years. She was the biggest supporter of any team that her sons or grandchildren coached. Her dearest, closest, and lifelong friends are those she met through her love of sports.
She is survived by her two sons, Randy Henderson and wife Amy of Ropesville, and Rick Henderson of Lubbock; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Alyx Henderson and A.J. Henderson, and her brother, Bo Peters of Middleburg, FL. Betty’s warmth, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all.
Her parents, Olan and Lucille Peters; and her beloved husband, Ronald Henderson preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association West Texas Chapter at https://alz.org or 110 Mesa Park Dr., Suite 250, El Paso, Texas 79912 in memory of Betty.
