Aubrey Raymond “Rocky” Rawls was called home in the early morning of July 26, 2024. He was 82 years old.
Aubrey was born on April 5, 1942, to Eula and A.C. Rawls and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. During his summers in junior high and high school, he developed his love for the farm and ranch life while working and living at his uncle Jim’s ranch. In Fort Worth, he met the love of his life, Carriejo “Jodie” Callaway at Amon Carter Riverside High School. He later attended Tyler Junior College and East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas where he played football and won the Junior Rose Bowl in 1960. He went on to graduate and soon after, married his high school sweetheart, Jodie. They began their family in Commerce, raising them in Levelland, and then finding their permanent home in Lubbock.
Aubrey dedicated his career to John Deere. He went to work right out of college and later acquired dealerships all throughout Texas and New Mexico. His drive and hard work spanned over 60+ years…he truly bled green. When he wasn’t working, he was playing golf– more than likely at Levelland Country Club where he was a board member for over 30 years. He loved to spend time outside, whether dove hunting or sitting on his back porch, preferably in Ruidoso.
He was the greatest example of a hard worker and enjoying all of life’s moments. Aubrey was a devoted man of God and steadfast in his faith, instilling this in his children and grandchildren early on. His generosity and encouragement was unmatched– something he was known by. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and never shied away from providing words of wisdom or a good dad joke.
Aubrey is preceded in death by his mom, Eula Rawls, father, A.C. Rawls, and his sister, Paula Sessions.
He is survived by his wife, Jodie Rawls; sister, Bonnie Franklin; son, Randy Rawls and wife Robin of Lubbock; daughter Renee Bradley and husband Tom of Provo, Utah; grandchildren, Hunter Rawls and wife Molly of Midland, Lexie Ricks and husband Payten of Austin, Jessie Stemo and Nate of Milwaukee, and Josh Bradley of Provo, Utah; great-grandchildren Obi and Kai Ricks and Tru Rawls.
